Ismail has carved his own identity in sculptors using various mediums such as metal, glass, gems and stones creating a visually stunning artwork that appeals to its viewers. His artwork is very popular among the Muslim community where calligraphy dominates the sentiments. They also have the value of appeal to aesthetic of the non-Muslim viewers.
Ismail has held exhibitions in almost all famous art galleries in Pakistan and has also exhibited his art pieces in other countries. Shakil rose as an established name among sculptors with the likes of Abdul Jabbar Gul and have a huge following. Ismail first imagine his sculptors as a drawing and create a mental sketch in his mind. He then uses metal, glass, stones and gems and incorporates holy writings on it. It’s usually the word of Allah which is found repeatedly used in the work. He says that working on its art work is similar to conceiving a situation for painting there is sensibility, captivity and movement. He adds, assembles or builds material to achieve its final shape. It is his search to find related elements in various materials so that he can put them together and fuse a spirit of a total whole in it.
